A Editora Saída de Emergência prepara-se para lançar Nove Príncipes de Âmbar de Roger Zelazny, o primeiro livro da saga As Crónicas de Âmbar, a 7 de Abril de 2017. A Editora conseguiu os direiros dos primeiros cinco livros da saga depois de Robert Kirkman, o produtor da série The Walking Dead, anunciar que adquiriu os direiros da saga para adaptação televisiva.

Roger Zelazny foi uma dos autores mais prolíferos dos anos 60 e 70, dedicando-se tanto à fantasia como à ficção científica, publicando dezenas de contos e romances. O autor venceu o prémio Hugo várias vezes, incluindo Melhor Romance para This Immortal (1966) e Lord of Light (1968).

Among Others

Sugestão de Leitura Fantástica

Among Others, publicado em 2011, faz parte do meu Desafio Literário 2017. Jo Walton já tinha escrito vários livros, mas foi este que a catapultou para a ribalta da literatura fantástica. A autora de origem galesa mudou-se para o Canadá depois de publicar o seu primeiro romance. Escreve ficção científica e fantasia e já venceu vários prémios incluindo o prémio Nebula e Hugo e o prémio de Melhor Romance de Fantasia Britânica por Among Others.

Jo Walton combina elementos autobiográficos com rasgos de imaginação ligados à fantasia, numa história onde uma jovem mulher luta para escapar à sua infância problemática enquanto se adapta a uma nova realidade. Among Others é um diário dessa transição onde esta jovem mulher se agarra à leitura fervorosa dos mais icónicos romances de fantasia e ficção científica publicados até à altura.

Nnedi Okorafor é uma escritora de origem nigeriana que já tem publicadas várias obras de fantasia e ficção científica e que está a entusiasmar bastantes leitores. Entre os seus principais romances estão Who Fears Death (2010) e Lagoon (2014), e os romances young adult Zahrah the Windseeker (2005), The Shadow Speaker (2007) e Akata Witch (2011). Emerald City é uma série de televisão de fantasia que se baseia na série de livros, Land of Oz, escrita por L. Frank Baum. A série tem 10 episódios e passa na NBC. Depois de ser transportada do Kansas para a Terra de Oz por um tornado, Dorothy decide encontrar o Feiticeiro sem imaginar que está prestes a cumprir um profecia que mudará a vida de toda a gente para sempre.

Confesso que até gostei o trailer, mas depois do desastroso Oz the Great and Powerful de 2013, tenho sérias dúvidas se alguma vez conseguirão fazer uma boa adaptação da obra L. Frank Baum nos tempos modernos. Até lá, podemos dar uma vista de olhos a esta série para ver como ficou e claro podemos rever o clássico The Wizard of Oz de 1939.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them é um spin-off da série de filmes Harry Potter. O filme é inspirado no livro com o mesmo título que aparecia nos livros de Harry Potter e que foi publicado em 2001. Embora tenha sido escrito por Rowling, foi apresentado como sendo de Newt Scamander, que dedicou a sua vida aos monstros fantásticos. A personagem chega agora ao mundo do cinema com a acção a passar-se nos Estados Unidos da América, mais especificamente em Nova Iorque, onde vamos conhecer as comunidade mágica da cidade. O filme chega às salas de cinema de todo o mundo esta semana.

 

Com um público vasto e fãs do universo criado por Rowling em todo o mundo, é possível dizer que o filme será um sucesso de bilheteira. J. K. Rowling tem revelado várias informações sobre o mundo que criou nos últimos tempos, nomeadamente sobre personagens mais secundárias e sobre o mundo da feitiçaria nos E.U.A. Para além disso, saiu o livro da peça Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts I & II, que também se estreou em Londres este ano. Trata-se de uma boa oportunidade para Rowling fazer mais uns tostões e voltar ao mundo da feitiçaria criado por si, uma que vez que a Warner Bros. conseguiu negociar cinco filmes para esta nova série, que vai explorar algumas histórias faladas nos livros de Harry Potter, incluindo o grande duelo entre Dumbledore e Grindelwald.

No filme, o excêntrico e reservado magizoologista Newt Scamander chega à cidade de Nova Iorque com sua maleta, um objecto mágico onde carrega uma colecção de fantásticos animais do mundo da magia que encontrou durante as suas viagens e que tenta proteger de outros feiticeiros que não compreendem esses monstros fantásticos. No meio da comunidade de feitiçaria norte-americana dos anos 20 (estamos em 1926) que teme muito mais a exposição aos Muggles do que os ingleses e que enfrenta uma ameaça obscura, Newt precisará de usar todas as suas habilidades e conhecimentos para capturar algumas das criaturas que escapam da sua mala quando se cruza com um Non-Mag (nos E.U.A. os Muggles são Non -Mag), ao mesmo tempo que se vê envolvido em acusações de utilização de uma magia negra muito poderosa.

The Secret History of Moscow é um romance de fantasia cuja acção tem lugar no submundo da Rússia capitalista, na tumultuosa cidade de Moscovo dos anos 90. 

Galina vive em Moscovo com a sua irmã que, depois de dar à luz na casa de banho, se transforma numa gralha e voa para longe. Inicialmente Galina fica relutante em denunciar o que aconteceu devido à sua longa história do que muitos consideram ser doença mental, mas acaba por ter a ajuda de Fyodor, um artista alcoólico e do polícia Yakov, que também assiste a coisas estranhas. Juntos chegam a um mundo cheio de criaturas do antigo folklore russo, num mundo carvernoso cheio de magia, árvores que choram, gralhas albinas, e onde divindades pagãs exiladas e criaturas saídas de contos de fadas sussurram histórias estranhas. Saga é uma space opera com elementos de fantasia que é subversiva, provocante e sexy, saindo um pouco dos padrões normais, sobretudo devido ao leque de personagens díspares e às situações em que estas se envolvem. Imaginem um mundo galáctico em que dois povos são eternos rivais e lutam desde sempre, mas para evitar destruirem completamente os seus planetas de origem, expandiram essa guerra para outros planetas. A partir daqui a história gira à volta de um casal completamente improvavél (estilo Romeu e Julieta) de raças diferentes, Marko e Alana, que combatiam em facções diferentes e que se apaixonam quando Marko é prisioneiro de Alana. Da sua relação nasce uma criança, Hazel, que é também a narradora da história, e daí começa uma aventura impensável, onde estes são perseguidos por várias partes interessadas em eliminar a família completa, sem deixar quaisquer vestígios da existência de Hazel. Os desenhos são lindíssimos e por vezes gotescos, mas sobretudo imaginativos e a história é cativante com personagens e arcos narrativos muito bem criados.

Inspirado parcialmente na história da Disney, Cinderella, a autora quis criar um parsonagem mais dark, uma assassina que se envolve numa enorme conspiração que terá consequências em todo o império. A série para jovens adultos já conta com cinco volumes, sendo que o quinto sai este ano e ainda deve sair um sexto volume (ainda sem título) em 2017. The BFG é a adaptação ao cinema do romance de Roald Dahl como o mesmo título que foi publicado em 1982. O filme de fantasia e aventura conta com a realização de Steven Spielberg e argumento de Melissa Mathison. O realizador apresentou o filme no Festival de Cannes e, apesar de estar a ter críticas ligeiramente positivas, a bilheteira está a ser muito fraca face ao orçamento do filme. Destinado a um público mais jovem e ao cinema em família, está a ter uma concorrência avassaladora de Finding Dory que continua a fazer uma pipa de massa.

The BFG (em português O Amigo Gigante) conta a história de uma menina orfã que um dia encontra um gigante amigável que, apesar da sua aparência intimidante, possui um coração generoso, e que a leva para o país dos Gigantes. Como este gigante é simpático e amigável, é renegado por outros gigantes, porque ao contrário destes, não inclui na sua dieta alimentar meninos e meninas. Mas quando os outros gigantes tentam apanhar Sophie para a comerem, ela revela ser bem mais corajosa do que podíamos imaginar.

Roald Dahl é também o autor de livros como "Charlie e a Fábrica de Chocolate", "James e o Pêssego Gigante", "O Fantástico Senhor Raposo", "Matilda", "As Bruxas", entre outros, todas histórias bastante conhecidas entre os mais pequenos. Em Portugal, o conto que serviu de base para este filme foi lançado em Novembro de 2015 pela Oficina do Livro, com o nome "O Grande Gigante Gentil".
