As nomeações para a 75.ª edição dos Golden Globe Awards foram anunciadas a 11 de Dezembro de 2017 no Beverly Hilton Hotel pelos apresentadores Alfre Woodard, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Bell e Sharon Stone, juntamente com a Presidente da Hollywood Foreign Press Association e o Vice-Presidente Executivo de televisão na Dick Clark Productions, Barry Adelman. 

Em cinema, The Shape of Water lidera com 7 nomeações, logo seguido The Post e Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, ambos com 6 nomeações. Nas categorias de televisão, a série Big Little Lies lidera com 6 nomeações, seguida de Feud: Bette and Joan com 4 nomeações, seguida de Fargo, The handmaid's Tale e This Is Us, todos com 3 nomeações cada.

Riverdale é a nova série do canal CW baseada em personagens de banda desenhada da Archie Comics que incluem Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge e Josie and the Pussycats. Trata-se de uma série dramática envolvendo algum mistério para um público mais jovem, que foi desenvolvida por Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa e Greg Berlanti. A série já vai a meio da temporada, está a passar no CW e em Portugal dá para ver por streaming no Netflix.

A acção da série tem lugar em Riverdale, uma cidade marcada pela morte de Jason Blossom, um acontecimento que marca para sempre a vida dos habitantes da cidade, sobretudo um determinado grupo de adolescentes que estavam de alguma forma ligados a Jason. Archie Andrews é o protagonista, um adolescente tipicamente atraente, com paixão pela música, que acaba por se ver envolvido no drama da morte de Jason. Betty Cooper é amiga de infância de Archie que se vê ainda mais envolvida na morte de Jason devido à relação que ele tinha com a sua irmã. Veronica Lodge é a nova rapariga na cidade por quem Archie mostra interesse e que vai gerar algum mal estar com Betty, que tem uma paixão antiga por Archie. Jughead Jones é o narrador da história, que começa a investigar a morte de Jason Blossom por conta própria. Jughead é também o melhor amigo de Archie e acaba por se aproximar de Betty. Há ainda Cheryl Blossom, a irmã do falecido que tem tanto de mimada e rica como de problemática e Josie and the Pussycats, uma banda com três talentosas meninas que tentam ficar conhecidas pela suas músicas. Para além disso, há um grande conjunto de personagens secundárias interpretadas por actores que se tornaram famosos nos anos 90 e que tinham praticamente desaparecido do pequeno ecrã, mas que foram repescados para os papéis de pais dos adolescentes.

Vencedores 2017

As nomeações para os SAG Awards foram anunciadas a 14 de Dezembro de 2016 e a 23.ª Cerimónia de entrega dos Screen Actors Guild Awards teve lugar a 29 de Janeiro de 2017 com transmissão no TNT e TBS.

Embora estes prémios não sejam tão conhecidos como os Golden Globes, tiveram uma apresentação e realização bem mais bem conseguida. Hidden Figures saiu como grande vencedor da noite com o Melhor Elenco em Cinema; Stranger Things venceu como Melhor Elenco em Série Dramática; e Orange is the New Black como Melhor Elenco em Série de Comédia. 

Viola Davis (Fences) venceu o SAG de Melhor Actriz Secundádia e Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) foi o Melhor Actor Secundário, ambos sem grande surpresa. Já na categoria principal não venceu nenhum dos meus preferidos: Denzel Washington venceu por Fences, quando devia ter vencido o Viggo Mortensen por Captain Fantastic; e Emma Stone venceu por La La Land quando o prémio devia ter ido para a Amy Adams ou para a Natalie Portman.

Em televisão, os prémios de Melhor Actriz Dramática e Melhor Actor Dramático foram para Claire Foy e John Lithgow por The Crown. Julia Louis-Dreyfus venceu a categoria de Melhor Actriz de Comédia por Veep sem surpresa e William H. Macy foi o Melhor Actor de Comédia por Shameless para sua grande surpresa. Sem surpresa, Sarah Poulson venceu na categoria de Melhor Actriz em Filme Televisivo ou Série Limitada por The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Por outro lado, na mesma categoria, Bryan Cranston venceu por All The Way, quando se esperava que o prémio fosse para Sterling K. Brown ou Courtney B. Vance.

Vencedores 2016

Algumas surpresas na 68.ª cerimónia de entrega dos Emmys, os prémios de celebram o que melhor se fez na televisão de 1 de Junho de 2015 a 31 de Maio de 2016, cujos vencedores são escolhidos pela Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. A cerinmónia foi apresentada por Jimmy Kimmel e teve lugar no Microsoft Theater em Downtown Los Angeles, na Califórnia, com transmissão no canal ABC.

A série Game of Thrones venceu na categoria de Melhor Série Dramática e levou também alguns prémios de argumento e realização, mas desta vez não venceu nada nas categorias de representação. A série também se tornou a mais galadoarda de sempre com um total de 38 Emmys. Rami Malek foi o Melhor Actor Dramático por Mr. Robot, mas a grande surpresa foi quando Tatiana Maslany venceu como Melhor Actriz Dramática por Orphan Black.

Outra grande surpresa foi a série The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, que venceu cinco Emmys, incluindo Melhor Série Limitada, Sarah Poulson como Melhor Actriz, Courtney B. Vance como Melhor Actor e Sterling K. Brown como Melhor Actor Secundário na categoria de Série Limitada ou Filme Televisivo. Regina King venceu como Melhor Actriz Secundária por American Crime.

Veep, a série da HBO foi a grande vencedora na categoria de comédia levando o Emmy de Melhor Comédia e Julia Louis-Dreyfus levou o prémio de Melhor Actriz de Comédia pela quinta vez consecutiva. Jeffrey Tambor venceu o Emmy de Melhor Actor de Comédia por Transparent. Nas categorias secundárias, Kate McKinnon venceu por Saturday Night Live e Louie Anderson venceu por Baskets.

Destaque ainda para o Melhor Filme Televisivo, cujo Emmy foi para Sherlock: The Abominable Bride e para a Melhor Série de Variedade Talk Series com o Last Week Tonight With John Oliver a ser o grande vencedor. Os canais HBO e o FX foram os grandes vencedores, cada um com seis Emmys. Em termos de apresentação, Jimmy Kimmel fez um trabalho exemplar, mas nada de extraordinário nem de piadas demasiado controversas e houve bastante diversidade nos vencedores.
