O segundo volume da trilogia An Ember in the Ashes foi lançado a 30 de Agosto de 2016. A Torch Against the Night é a continuação de An Ember in the Ashes (2015), que também dá nome à trilogia. Vamos finalmente saber como corre a fuga de Laia e Elias e a tentativa de salvar o irmão dela, que está na prisão mais segura e perigosa do Império.

Como já tinha referido, gostei bastante do primeiro volume da trilogia, mesmo achando que Laia e Helene estão muito melhor desenvolvidas do que Elias. Para um livro young adult, a história até está bem desenvolvida e gostei do facto de não termos apenas um ponto de vista.

Em Portugal, os livros estão a ser traduzidos pela Editorial Presença, vamos lá ver quando sairá a tradução do segundo volmue em português. Abaixo, fica a sinopse em inglês.

Já aqui tinha falado das quatro novellas que precedem este Throne of Glass (2012) de Sarah J. Maas que se tornou um best seller do New York Times e que são agora cinco: The Assassin and the Pirate Lord, The Assassin and the Healer, The Assassin and the Desert, The Assassin and the Underworld, The Assassin and the Empire. Inspirado parcialmente na história da Disney, Cinderella, a autora quis criar um parsonagem mais dark, uma assassina que se envolve numa enorme conspiração que terá consequências em todo o império. A série para jovens adultos já conta com cinco volumes, sendo que o quinto sai este ano e ainda deve sair um sexto volume (ainda sem título) em 2017. Crown of Midnight (2013), Heir of Fire (2014), Queen of Shadows (2015), Empire of Storms sai em Setembro de 2016. Mais informações sobre a série no site da autora Sarah J. Maas.

Trilogia The Grisha

Leio muitos livros mais juvenis e apesar de achar que a maior parte dos romances que leio são muito fraquinhos pela falta de personagens mais sérias e convincentes, sobretudo pelas personagens femininas demasiado ingénuas e tolinhas, quer pela falta de lógica nas suas acções e ainda pelo facto de se apaixonarem irrevogavelmente por uma pessoa e não verem mais nada à frente. É como se o amor apagasse todas as outras preocupações que deviam inquietá-las e têm de lutar muito para conseguirem focar-se no que é mesmo importante. 

A ingenuidade também faz parte desta trilogia, mas a protagonista criada por Leigh Bardugo leva uma bela pancada quando percebe quão enganada foi pelo vilão. Ainda só li primeiro volume, creio que tem ideias muito boas, tem cenários muito bem imaginados, mas faltou que as acções das personagens fossem um pouco mais além e que as consequências dessas acções fossem mais tramadas. De qualquer forma, é uma leitura muito rápida e cativante até certo ponto.

The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials é um thriller de acção e ficção científica cuja trama tem lugar num futuro distópico e que adapta o segundo livro de James Dashner, The Scorch Trials, da trilogia The Maze Runner. A acção deste segundo filme tem lugar imediatamente a seguir ao fim do anterior, com Thomas e os seus companheiros, os Gladers, a lutar contra a poderosa organização W.C.K.D. enquanto enfrentam os perigos da Scorch, um lugar com uma paisagem desoladora cheia de obstáculos perigosos. No ano no passado estreou a adaptação do primeiro livro, The Maze Runner e o terceiro filme, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, só tem estreia marcada para Fevereiro de 2017.

The Maze Runner é a adaptação cinematográfica do romance best-seller com o mesmo título do autor James Dashner, o primeiro volume de uma trilogia.

Já tinha falado deste filme aqui. Como já tinha dito, tenho algumas dúvidas sobre este filme se conseguir afirmar como trilogias como The Hunger Games, mas pronto, adaptar distopias ao cinema está moda e o trailer até parece ser interessante. A história parece ter óbvias influências do famoso livro de Lord of the Flies de William Golding e do labirinto do Minotauro, adicionando um pouco de aventura e algum terror. O filme estreia esta semana.

The Maze Runner é a adaptação cinematográfica do romance best-seller com o mesmo título do autor James Dashner, o primeiro volume de uma trilogia, apontado como o próximo Twilight ou Hunger Games em termos de popularidade e bilheteira. The Maze Runner foi publicado em 2009, seguido de The Scorch Trials em 2010 e de The Death Cure de 2011. Em 2012 o autor publicou a prequela The Kill Order.

Thomas acorda num elevador e não se lembra de nada do seu passado a não ser o seu primeiro nome. No entanto, não está só, pois assim que as portas de abrem, vê-se rodeado de vários outros rapazes que o informam que se encontra na Glade, um espaço amplo rodeado por muros de pedra, cujas portas se abrem para um maze (labirinto) onde ninguém quer ficar preso à noite. Mais estranho ainda é a chegada de uma rapariga no dia seguinte, coisa que nunca tinha contecido, uma vez que só apareciam rapazes, e a forma como ela faz Thomas sentir-se diferente, despertando-lhe a estranha sensação de que se ele conseguir lembrar-se do seu passado pode ter algumas respostas para os estranhos acontecimentos. 

O filme de ficção científica é também um thriller com drama e mistério à mistura. Resta saber se estará realmente à altura da popularidade das outras trilogias que têm aparecido e feito imenso dinheiro e sucesso. Até porque ainda este ano sai a primeira parte da trilogia Divergent que está a gerar muita expectativa entre os fãs dos romances; para além disso também sairá no final do ano a primeira parte da conclusão de The Hunger Games que promete bater recordes de bilheteira.
