Thoughts are ephemeral, they evaporate in the moment they occur, unless they are given action and material form. Wishes and intentions, the same. Meaningless, unless they impel you to one choice or another, some deed or course of action, however insignificant. Thoughts that lead to action can be dangerous. Thoughts that do not mean less than nothing.

A autora e editora norte-americana dedica-se à fantasia e à ficção científica e destacou-se pelo seu primeiro livro, Ancillary Justice (2013), que já venceu o Nebula Award, o Arthur C. Clarke Award e o BSFA Award (este último empatada com Ack-Ack Macaque de Gareth L. Powell).

Ann Leckie publicou várias histórias em revistas como a Subterranean Magazine, a Strange Horizons e a Realms of Fantasy. Leckie parece não ter medo do trabalho, para além dos vários trabalhos e cargos que assume no mundo literáio da fantasia à ficção científica, também já trabalhou como empregada de mesa, recpcionista, técnica agrária e engenheira de som.

A nível pessoal, é casada e vive em St. Louis, no Missouri, com o marido, os filhos e os gatos. Depois de conseguir publicar o seu primeiro livro em 2013, o corrente ano tem sido bastante generoso a nível de prémios e ainda pode vencer o Hugo Award, embora as hipóteses sejam poucas, devido à nomeação da série Wheel of Time de Robert Jordan.

Ancillary Justice é o primeiro volume de trilogia Imperial Radch. O segundo volume é Ancillary Sword que sai em Outubro deste ano. Ancillary Mercy é o terceiro volume e talvez seja publicado em 2015.
