A autora neo-zelandesa nasceu em 1948 e escreve sobretudo fantasia histórica. Juliet formou-se em música e linguística, já ensinou a nível do liceu e a nível universitário, trabalhou como condutora de coro e como cantora de ópera. Em 2009 foi-lhe diagnosticado cancro da mama. É mãe de dois rapazes e de duas raparigas e actualmente vive na região de Perth na Austrália onde trabalha como escritora a tempo inteiro.
